Pin the Tail on Dorothy

HOW TO PLAY:

This game will require you to download and print the PDF above. Stick the Dorothy scene on the wall, and cut out Dorothy's tail on the second page. Affix some blu-tack to the back of Dorothy's tail so it can be stuck to the wall.

  • Assemble the children in a group two metres from the wall.
  • Blindfold one child, give them Dorothy's tail and spin them around three times.
  • The child must walk to the Dorothy scene on the wall, and attempt to stick the tail as close to Dorothy as they can.
  • After they have stuck the tail, remove the child's blindfold and outline the tail on the wall with a pen, along with the child's name.
  • Repeat the process with all children.

The winner is the child who has placed Dorothy's tail as closely to Dorothy as possible.

Musical Chairs

HOW TO PLAY:

A CD player and a Wiggles CD is needed for this game. Chairs are turned the opposite way around facing outwards to the tables.

  • Take away one chair so there is one less chair than the number of children. A grown -up should remove another chair each time the children have a turn.
  • Music is played and the children move in a circle around the chairs.
  • When the music stops, the children have to sit down on the chairs.
  • One child will miss out. This child is eliminated from the game.
  • The game continues until there are two children left and one chair.

The winner is the last child to sit on the last chair.

Wags Wags

HOW TO PLAY:

The children can remain sitting at the party table or sit in a circle on the floor.

  • One child is picked to be "in" and walks around the circle gently tapping each person on their head as they go, until they pick someone who they want to be "Wags". When they tap this child they also yell out Wags and this child chases them around the circle.
  • The child that was "in" has to get back to where Wags was sitting before Wags catches them.
  • If they make it back to their seat without being caught, Wags is now "in". However, if Wags catches them before they get back to their seat, the child is "in" once again.
  • Keep playing until children start to lose interest.

Preferably have the child being Wags wear a Wags tail and hat. This game can be played using any of The Wiggle characters.

Dorothy Says

HOW TO PLAY:

This game can be played whilst sitting at the table or standing.

  • Make either yourself or one child "Dorothy". Dorothy stands out the front and leads everyone with simple actions always saying first "Dorothy says" before saying the action. e.g. "Dorothy says put your hands on your head" (everyone copies).
  • To eliminate someone from the game, Dorothy does not say, "Dorothy says" before saying the action. e.g. "Put your hands on your head." If anyone copies this action then they are eliminated.
  • The children have to listen carefully to only copy the actions that "Dorothy says". The last person not to be eliminated is the winner.
  • If there is time for another game, the winner becomes the new "Dorothy".
